Mario Party 9 Analysis

Mario Party and its first two sequels rocked the N64 with cooperative play in a fun environment. Unfortunately, the next seven installments failed to impress critics with their less then ground-breaking material. After a near five year wait, Nintendo announced its most recent party game, Mario Party 9.

Why should you even consider looking at Mario Party 9? Nintendo has learned from the previous disaster that was Mario Party 8. No more arm muscle destroying mini-games, no more boring chances to let the wii “shine”, and no more repetetive gameplay gimmicks. Mario Party 9 introduces the idea of several mini-stars which can be collected over the course of seven maps. Each map features a vehicle which allows one member of your party to choose its current path. Each mini-game features improved quality and less shaking (thank goodness). Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to plug your Wii back in.

Many have already applauded the variety of gameplay seen in Mario Party 9. After a long break from a dying series, Nintendo has returned with one of the most promising party games around. Rather than keep boring you with my commentary, allow me to present our newest family member’s gameplay.
