Can Valve count to three?

Valve Corporation, known for the hugely successful and innovative series Half-Life, does not know how to count to three. Every game made by Valve is instantly successful. So why would they not capitalize on this success? I believe they don’t want to ruin something good. One bad game could completely destroy an enormous series. So they create a game, expand upon the game with a sequel, and then drop the series from any more content.

Think about it, Portal 2, Half-Life 2 Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead 2 all are waiting for the next game in the series. Instead of coming up with something brand new, how about they tie off some loose ends first? What’s beautiful about these games, is that each one of them is set up perfectly for a sequel!

Portal 2 ended with Chell finally escaping the Aperture Science Enrichment Center. However, so many loose ends exist in the Portal universe, it’s almost hard not to beg for a sequel! What happened to the praying mantis men? Is it a coincidence that the moon is made out of the same substance as white gel? What about Cave Johnson’s other experiments? What if there was a mining facility on the moon that was run by another GlaDOS-like robot? What if she took in Wheatley from space?

We still don’t know the fates of any of the Left 4 Dead characters. Although it was mentioned that many survivors were being relocated to cruise ships. That would be an amazing experience… fighting your way through a huge cruise ship overrun with the undead.

Half-Life 2 is also awaiting a much-anticipated sequel. But, if this trend continues we may never see the fate of Gordon Freeman.
